Indian Paintbrush
About the Design
Indian Paintbrush, also known as Castilleja and "prairie fire" is one of the most beautiful wildflowers endemic to the American West. In May you see purples, blues, and some yellow. But only Indian Paintbrush brings this orangey, pinky red so saturated it looks like it glows.
I painted this in May, 2018 in Millard Canyon, observed from a real bloom and painted in natural light in pencil and watercolor on stonehenge "faun" paper.
